Roger’s Magical, Mystical Questions:
Many local regions, especially rural areas where I live, have haunted houses. Have you ever spent the night in a house that was supposedly haunted? No. Because it just never happened. I’ve lived in houses I’ve believed had ghosts, but never in a traditional “haunted” house that was, like, abandoned or anything. Anything ‘strange” happen? see previous answer.
The Quidditch Cup (riding broomsticks while chasing a small ball) was a huge sporting event in the land of Hogwarts. What is the largest sporting event (or concert, etc.) that you have ever attended? A Garth Brooks concert. He used to be way popular. I went to a baseball game once, that might have been big, it was fun. I tend to avoid big gatherings.
When you go for a swim, do you prefer an ocean, the seaside lakes, or a pool? It’s been a long time since I’ve been swimming anywhere. But I used to be a water baby. I loved to swim. Then I just stopped. I don’t know why. Anyway, when I had my druthers, I preferred to swim in the ocean. Pools at the time were way too chlorinated and irritated my nose and turned my hair green. Yep, even though I never bleached my hair, it would still turn green. >_< I’d still go swimming, but if I swam too often and there was too much chlorine, my hair would inevitably turn green. Stupid pools.
Ron Weasley received a horrid robe to wear as formal wear to the Christmas dance at Hogwarts. Tell about the most ‘ghastly’ fashion statement that you have ever made. My wedding dress this last time I got married. It was pretty awful. The pattern looked good, and I thought the fabric would look nice. But it was, as I said, pretty awful. I sewed it at the last minute and I was determined to make it work. I ordered my shoes by mail and they were too small. It was a disaster, but I was stubborn and dammit, I was going to wear the stupid thing even if I looked ridiculous (which I did). If I could go back and redo it, I’d wear the skirt I originally picked out and a nice blouse. It doesn’t matter though, I still had a good time, and we still got hitched. So that’s all that matters.
Muggle Questions (from Melanie):
What is the last song you sang along to? Dead Skunk by Loudon Wainwright III. Someone posted it on my Facespace. I used to have this song on my “Road Trip” mix tapes. I love it. It’s a great road trip song. Ah, memories…
What was your scariest nightmare about? When we first moved into the house we lived in last time we lived in New Mexico, the master bedroom used to give me the willies. One night I feel asleep before Doug and I dreamt there was a man standing next to the bed and he was so… angry. He was an older man and he just stood there, glaring at me. The anger emanated from him and just kept getting stronger. I couldn’t move. I couldn’t speak. I didn’t know what he wanted from me. The room started out bright, like daylight but got darker the longer he stood there. Finally, he reached down and put his hands around my throat, and that’s when I started screaming, actually yelling. I’m not a screamer. I’ve never cried out in a nightmare before. Doug came running in from the other room and I scared the dogs. I know it doesn’t sound like much of a nightmare, but it scared me so much that I couldn’t sleep in that room again. I moved into another of the bedrooms and gave Doug that room as his man cave.
What food do you crave most often? Right now? Ice cream. I don’t know why, but I crave it almost every day. It’s weird. Like, yogurt doesn’t cut it for cool and creamy. It’s got to be ice cream.
What’s your grossest bug story? I don’t have one?
Gratitude: So I had a birthday. I turned 54. I’m grateful that I made it another year around the sun. Doug got me this for my birthday:
I asked him for both the switch and the game. I figured I’d give the game a try and see if it helps me exercise a bit. I tried it out this morning, and it does give one a workout. I didn’t actually play the game proper, but tried some of the exercises. I only was able to “play” for five minutes before I tapped out, but hey, I tried, right? I’ll try again tomorrow.
