Weird couple of days

So we’ve had a weird couple of days here in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Monday was normal, but Tuesday afternoon, the winds swept in out of nowhere and crashed through the town. Like seventy mile an hour winds. It was pretty crazy. Trees came down all over town and power went out everywhere. It’s been two days and there are still about 3,000 without power. Luckily, we did not lose power. Our internet went out Tuesday night and we just got it back about an hour ago, but that’s about it.

power outage map for today.

It’s weird that a few years ago, something like having no internet for a couple of days would have been nothing but a minor bump in our day. But today we kind of need the internet. Doug uses it for work, especially right now during the COVID-19 lock down, and not having it is way more of and inconvenience than it used to be. I’m glad though, that we didn’t lose power. I’ve been without power for days before. It’s not fun. Lack of internet/power aside thought, we went from record highs to record lows in just one day. Like, air conditioning to heating. Now I’ve been in some wacky weather before, and have used both my heater and cooler in one day, but this is some wild stuff. It’s freaking September and people here are wearing their winter clothes. It’s wild. It’s supposed to be cool for a few more days and then warm up again.

News.

I’m not complaining, mind you. I’m just explaining why I haven’t been around the last couple of days (for those of y’all who don’t live around me). The sudden and complete change in weather has been playing merry hell with my sinuses but that happens every year. I was just expecting it later on in the year.

Poptart is already over the cold weather.

Anyway, that’s the long and short of what’s going on. We had a bit of a wind storm and some driving rain. It knocked out the power for much of Albuquerque. Some of our friends are still without power right now. Luckily, we didn’t lose power. Our internet was out for two days, which was an inconvenience, but it could have been much worse. I think though, that Doug and I need to get some firewood in storage, because yeah, we might not be so lucky next time and we have two fireplaces but nothing to burn in them.
