This is a personal blog. I don’t get political. When I heard the news that Ruth Bader Ginsburg died today, I cried a little. I’ve never been personally saddened by the death of someone I’ve never met before. It was a new experience for me. But I’m sure many people were touched by her death, may her memory live on.
Anyway, as I mentioned this is a personal blog. I talk of personal things. I meant to talk of a blonde/foggy/senior moment I had yesterday because I found it amusing. I totally filled my kettle with water, waited a few moments, prepared my second cup of coffee — which is always instant so I don’t have a third or fourth — and poured the water in. It wasn’t until I sat down and took a sip that I realized I never turned the kettle on. Like I don’t even know how I didn’t figure out the water wasn’t hot the entire time I was fixing the cup. The good news is, I found an old coffee cup cozy I’d made a few years ago. It doesn’t really work on big cups, but it looks nifty.
My knitting group and I were talking about how big our cups are here in the USA. Like, in the rest of the world, people use the equivalent of a four to six ounce cup, but we add at least a good ten ounces on to that. It wasn’t always like that. I have old coffee cups from my grandma’s day and they were about four ounces. Honestly, I should keep my coffee in a carafe and use smaller cups. It would stay warmer longer, but I’m too lazy. Anyway, my little gaffe yesterday was amusing to me.
In other news, Poptart has cloudy eyes again — both eyes this time. Last time it was his right eye, and it cleared itself up in about four or five days, this time it’s both eyes. I noticed it last night. I called the vet this morning and have an appointment with them on Monday, so hopefully they’ll be able to see what’s going on with his eyes this time. Last time whatever it was cleared up before we could get to the vet. Either way, I’m taking pictures like I did last time… just in case. It doesn’t seem to be affecting his vision at all, but he’s avoiding bright light whenever he can. The picture looks bright, but it’s really not. If he were facing the light, his eyes would be closed or he’d be blinking rapidly. Other than that though, he’s his normal self. Except I noticed one weird thing that I have to remember to bring up to the vet when I bring him in. He’s way calmer. This happened the last time too. Like normally he’s a high-strung doggo who snaps and snarls at the other pets — aside from Brandy whom he’s bonded to — but right now he’s just… calm. He hasn’t growled, snapped, or lunged at anyone yet today, and it’s 2:30 in the afternoon (14:30 for those not in the USA). That’s kind of a weird “symptom” but it’s something I notice last time too.
Anyway, that’s all that’s going on around these parts. Not a lot, I know, but I lead a boring life. And I’m okay with that. 🙂 Later, y’all.
