I have to say, dear reader, that I hate the kind of questions today’s prompt asks. It’s not a bad question in and of itself, mind you. It’s just not something I like answering because… I’m not quite sure. I almost cheated and was just about to press the button for a different prompt, but the challenge for this month is to answer whatever prompt comes up, so I’m gonna do that, dammit! >_< Even if I really dislike these types of questions. So, you might ask why I included it in my list of questions to begin with if I dislike them so much. Well, I didn’t set out to create this page for just me. I’m hoping that other people will find it useful — once I actually have it online — and other people seem to like questions like this. So there you go. Normally, I would just press the button for a different question, but… I did set myself up for this challenge, and here we are. The question for today is: You are having a dinner party where you can invite three guests, all fictional, one from a book, one from a movie, and one from television. Who’s coming?
So, here’s the thing, I used to love trying to have parties. And I thought I put out a pretty good spread for them. The problem, I think, is that the people I knew really didn’t think I could throw these kinds of parties, so they never actually came to them. If I invited people over to hang out, they were there all day and we had fun, but any time I tried to throw a party with decorations, invitations and the lot, no one came. The biggest and best party I ever threw was my wedding, and it was a blast. It proved that I did, actually, know how to throw a shindig. I guess I had crappy friends up until then. I think, dear reader, that’s why I don’t like answering these questions, it brings up old wounds.
Anyway, a dinner party. Three guests. I used to read this book series by Patricia Briggs called the Mercy Thompson series. It’s a paranormal romance series. I think I’d invite the titular character, Mercy. She seems like an interesting person to get to know. And, just for giggles, I’d invite Deadpool from the movie Deadpool, the first movie because it’s the only one I’ve seen. Again, because he seems like an interesting person to get to know. And if he decides to get all riled up, Mercy is a badass and can bring him down a peg or two. But I’m hoping that they’ll find the novelty of being invited to dinner interesting enough to be peaceful. And, because we’re doing badasses, why not Buffy from Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Seems like I’m going for titular characters over here. Ha! Double ha! And, since I suck at throwing dinner parties, we’ll just order pizza, watch movies, and play video games for the night. I’m way more comfortable with hanging out than I am at dinner parties anyway.
There, I answered the question. Whew. I guess that wasn’t so hard. I wish I knew how to draw though, a picture of all of them playing video games and eating pizza with lil’ old me would be pretty awesome. ^_^ Ah well, can’t have everything.
